The KCB1/M by ThorLabs is a versatile right-angle mirror mount that is designed for pitch and yaw adjustment of a Ø1" (Ø25.4 mm) optic mounted on a 45° angle. The KCB1/M is specifically engineered for seamless integration into compatible 30 mm cage systems, allowing for easy and efficient system construction.
The KCB1/M features SM1-threaded (1.035"-40) bores on its ports, and eight 4-40 tapped holes, which are optimally spaced to mate with a 30 mm cage system. The mount also has one M6 tap for post mounting. To connect and secure two KCB1/M mounts effectively within the cage system, ERSCB ER Rod Adapters are necessary. The KCB1/M is fitted with a kinematic plate for tip and tilt adjustment operated by three screws of 100 TPI (Threads per Inch) each. The screws allow for smooth, high-resolution movement of 0.01" (0.254 mm) per turn, making precise adjustments simple and hassle-free. There are three different types of adjusters - two of which are fitted with easily removable knobs for tuning. The third one requires a 5/64" (2 mm) hex key or balldriver for adjusting.
To secure optics in place, the KCB1/M features a nylon-tipped set screw that is used in conjunction with a 5/64" (2 mm) hex key or balldriver via the mounts' rear-loading, double-bored hole. The rear loading design of the KCB1/M ensures that the maximum thickness of the mounted optic is not limited, and the optic remains easily accessible even after the mount is fitted with cage rods or lens tubes. For optimal performance, optics with a minimum thickness of 0.12" (3 mm) are required. If the optic thickness is less than this, it will need to be combined with an optic spacer.
