The MB175 by ThorLabs is a premium heavy-duty magnetic base that provides a switchable magnet for easy positioning of optical components. With the MB175, users can enjoy an alternative and convenient way to secure optical components to magnetic optical tables and breadboards.

The MB175 features a powerful yet temporary magnet that helps prevent accidental repositioning of components while allowing for effortless adjustment. Once positioning is complete, these bases can be permanently secured to the table with screws. The MB175 does not require additional hardware to secure it to the breadboard, making it an efficient and cost-effective solution for your optical bench applications. Please note that this product is only compatible with magnetic optical tables.

To ensure precision and accuracy, the two bottom mounting surfaces of the MB175 have been precision ground for optical bench applications. It should also be noted that this magnetic base is not intended for overhead use. The holding force of 175 lbs (778 N) is specified for removal of the base perpendicular to a magnetic stainless steel surface with a surface flatness of less than 0.0005" (12.7 µm). Furthermore, the MB175 boasts a 1/4"-20 (M6) mounting stud and is typically used with standard Ø1/2" posts, Ø1" posts, or Ø1/2" post holders.
