The Thorlabs MLJ050 is a motorized lab jack that provides up to 2” of smooth, motorized height adjustment via a stepper motor. It is equipped with a built-in electronic controller, giving you the option to control it from your computer remotely or manually with the buttons and speed regulator on the control console. With the MLJ050, parameter settings can be adjusted on the PC and stored in non-volatile memory within the unit itself. This feature is particularly useful when operating the unit manually in the absence of a PC and USB link, as the settings will be applied automatically upon the next power-up. This lab jack also comes equipped with guards that completely eliminate finger traps and other obstructions, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
The MLJ050 is an ideal choice for those needing a durable, adjustable platform for mounting optomechanical parts that require height adjustment. It can handle even the toughest environments with ease. The large 4.9" x 5.6" (125 mm x 142 mm) mounting platform can move loads up to 44 lbs (20 kg) at up to 3 mm/s, offering excellent rigidity and platform parallelism. The top plate is equipped with 25 1/4" -20 (M6) tapped holes and the bottom plate features clearance slots for various mounting needs. This unit uses a location-specific power supply with an input of 85 to 264 VAC.
The MLJ050 can be driven by either one of two software platforms: the legacy APT™ (Advanced Positioning Technology) software or the Kinesis software. The APT software features ActiveX-based controls which can be used by third-party developers working on a variety of languages to create custom applications. This software provides a simulator mode to develop custom applications without the need of any hardware. This is incredibly useful and can assist in getting projects done quickly and efficiently. The Kinesis software, on the other hand, features newer .NET controls which can be used by third-party developers working in any .NET compatible languages to create custom applications.
The user-friendly interface of APT and Kinesis controllers allows you to mix 'n' match them in the same application without needing to learn multiple software tools. This makes the development process much easier and allows for the combining of controllers from single-axis to multi-axis systems and for controlling all from one software interface on a PC.
