The SL20 by ThorLabs is a versatile and high-precision ball and socket mounting platform that offers an exceptional range of motion. With its 90° adjustment from a horizontal to a vertical platform position and 360° rotation about the vertical axis, the SL20 allows for complete hemisphere spherical motion that is free. This articulating base ball stage is specifically designed to provide reliable and stable positioning in a range of applications, including flexible inspection systems such as video or optical microscopes, target positioning, and detection systems.

The SL20 is engineered for maximum stability and precision, featuring a 3/16" hex socket heavy duty locking screw that is supported by cantilever loads of 20 N·m (14 ft-lbs) or centralized loads of up to 50 kg. This means that even under challenging conditions, the SL20 can provide precise and stable positioning for your equipment. The platform is equipped with an variety of twenty-five tapped holes that are 1/4"-20 (M6 x 1.0) in size on centers that are 0.5" (12.5 mm) in size, making it easy to attach a wide range of accessories and equipment. Arbitrary positions of a maximum of 90° with respect to the surface of the table, can be achieved on the SL20, allowing for greater flexibility in positioning.

The full ball and socket mechanism of the SL20 can be rotated about the vertical axis by 360°, enabling the user to position equipment with utmost precision. The platform features a scale that is laser-engraved and offers 2° graduations labeled every 10° for greater accuracy. The base plate counterbored slots have imperial compatibility of the SL20, further enhancing the versatility of this exceptional ball and socket mounting platform. Additionally, the SL20 features a universal base plate and a rapid, lockable angular positioning mechanism, allowing you to easily lock the platform in place once you've found the perfect position.
