The SM1L20C by ThorLabs is a slotted lens tube that is a versatile and convenient solution for constructing complex optical assemblies and making adjustments to optics without dismantling the entire setup. It provides a light-tight beam path, making it an excellent choice for building compact optical subassemblies. Moreover, the SM1L20C can be stacked with other compatible Ø1" lens tubes for additional flexibility.

With the SM1L20C, inserting optics into the tube is easy and secure using the SM1RR retaining rings. The process involves threading the retaining ring to the desired depth, adding the optic, and using a second retaining ring to lock it in place. The side slots allow manual adjustments to the optics without requiring a spanner wrench. Additionally, the rotatable slip shield with an inner diameter of 1.21” (31.0 mm) prevents unwanted light from entering the system and keeps the optical setup free from debris.

The SM1L20C also offers compatibility with an extension tube, which is useful for optics with long focal lengths. It is also compatible with 30 mm cage systems and is vacuum-compatible, making it an ideal choice for research applications that require a controlled environment.
