The SM1PT by ThorLabs is an SM1-threaded adapter that is an essential component for any free-space optical setup. Designed with precision and efficiency in mind, this adapter allows for the mounting of cylindrical components and Ø3.5 collimators into SM1-compatible lens tubes, cage systems, and mounts. Crafted with a smooth 1/2" outer diameter, the SM1PT is optimized for use with GRIN lens fiber collimators.

The SM1PT boasts a center hole that is double-bored, external SM1 threads, and one setscrew with nylon tips. These nylon tips can be used to press the collimation package against the two lines of contact created by the double bore, ensuring maximum stability and accuracy. The SM1PT has been designed so that the collimation package can be easily positioned in way that the optical axis lines up with the center of the adapter’s SM1-compatible mount. This adapter ensures that the optical axis of the cylindrical component is perfectly centered with respect to the outer diameter of the adapter, allowing for maximum precision in any free-space optical setup.
