The UPH1 by ThorLabs is a versatile universal post holder that simplifies the process of assembling new optical setups. The UPH1 is designed with several convenient features that allow users to easily mount optic mounts at desired locations on an optical table or breadboard. One of the standout features of the UPH1 is its swiveling base, which can be rotated 360° to line up with convenient mounting holes on an optical table and allows for the ability to switch between multiple mounting holes.

The UPH1 also boasts magnets that provide holding force before the final lockdown of the optic for rough alignment. The base lets a Ø1/2" post sit on an optical table which allows for the post to have the largest range of height adjustment. In terms of compatibility, this post holder is compatible with a 3/16" (5 mm) drive thumbscrew that is spring-loaded, hex locking and should be tightened no higher than the maximum torque of 28 in·lbs (3.2 N·m). This ensures that the post holder remains securely locked in place during use. Additionally, the UPH1 features an extra wide square relief cut machined vertically along the length of the part. This channel provides a highly-stable two-line contact between the post and post holder.
