The ES111C from ThorLabs is a top-of-the-line pyroelectric energy sensor designed to measure both pulsed coherent sources and incoherent sources. Engineered with precision, this sensor is built to provide direct conversion of radiation energy pulses from light energy into voltage pulses, making it an excellent option for measuring energy in pulsed sources and unsuitable for CW measurements.

Featuring an impressive aperture diameter of 11 mm, the ES111C comes equipped with an 8-32 mounting hole that easily accommodates both posts and post holders. To ensure optimal performance, it is recommended to attach the head to a compatible electrically isolating post to prevent ground loops and electrical noise. 

The ES111C is incredibly useful for its ability to measure energy accurately, independent of the wavelength. This makes it a powerful tool for any situation where accurate measurements are needed. The black broadband coating on the sensor makes it an ideal option for measuring low power and wavelength-independent energy, thanks to its flat response. Equipped with a BNC connector, the ES111C can be directly connected to an oscilloscope with a 1 MΩ input resistance. To accommodate higher repetition rates, it is recommended to reduce the load resistance when connected to an oscilloscope. Calibration value for a 100 kΩ is given with the certificate of calibration of the sensor. The ES111C is also compatible with a BNC to C-Series adapter that contains NIST- and PTB-traceable calibration data. The BNC connector also houses an EPROM which will store the spectral response calibration parameter required to provide an accurate energy reading. 

One of the standout features of the ES111C is its large sensor area of Ø11 mm with easy alignment, making it an incredibly user-friendly tool for measuring energy. Additionally, the sensor head is largely insensitive to electromagnetic radiation interference from pulsed gas lasers, thanks to its strict coaxial build.
