The ThorLabs TTC001 is a high-precision T-Cube TEC controller that has been specifically designed to provide accurate thermal control for small temperature sensitive components. The TTC001 is capable of driving an external Peltier effect thermoelectric heater/cooler coupled to a standard thermistor or IC sensor, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, including wavelength stabilization of laser diodes, noise reduction of detectors, and wavelength tuning and modulation.

The TTC001 is equipped with various adjustable parameters that can be accessed and controlled through its user-friendly front panel interface. These parameters include temperature set point, current limit, temperature sensor type, and PID parameters, among others. The TTC001 can also be easily interfaced to a PC using a USB cable, and all of the parameters can be set using the included software. The controller is also equipped with a 5-digit, 7-segment illuminated display that can be set to show actual temperature, set point temperature, TEC current, and TEC current limit. The bipolar output stage of the TTC001 allows for both cooling and heating, with currents up to 1 A.

The TTC001 can be mounted directly onto an optical table and operated as a stand-alone unit with the included 5 V power supply. The included APT software allows for quick setup and control of the TTC001 and also allows for the control of other compatible T-Cube products. The proportional gain, integral share, and derivative share of the PID temperature control loop can be set independently of each other to optimize the performance of the TTC001. This controller is also compatible with controller hubs that have been specifically designed for multiple controller operation, simplifying issues such as different optical table mounting scenarios, multiple USB device communications, power supply routing, and cable management.

The TTC001 is compatible with both thermistors and temperature IC sensors for temperature sensing. If operated with a thermistor, the temperature display is shown as resistance value in kΩ. If operated with a temperature sensor IC, the temperature is shown in °C or °F. The temperature control system includes a protective circuit, which limits the TEC current in all operating modes. The TEC element and the temperature sensor are connected by a 15-pin D-sub jack at the rear of the unit, and a 15-pin D-sub to 9-pin D-sub is supplied with the TTC001 to directly connect compatible TEC mounts.
