The Thorlabs BSC203 APT Stepper Motor Controller is a powerful and versatile motor controller that boasts high-resolution microstepping control and advanced features for precise positioning applications. The BSC203 controller is designed to drive high-power, 2-phase bi-polar stepper motors, including those with or without encoder feedback. With a theoretical microstep resolution of 409,600 for a 200 full step motor, the BSC203 provides very fine positioning control, ensuring accurate and precise movement. The controller's differential encoder feedback (QEP inputs) for closed-loop positioning also enhances the level of precision and accuracy, making it the ideal choice for demanding motion control applications.

The BSC203 features an intuitive software graphical control panel that provides ease of use and eliminates the need for complex programming. It also includes a fully integrated software package for use with other APT family controllers, as well as an extensive ActiveX® programming interface, enabling advanced custom motion control applications and sequences. The BSC203 provides quick and convenient plug and play PC operation through its USB connectivity. Moreover, you can connect multiple units to one PC with a standard USB hub for multi-axis motion control purposes. The BSC203 also supports a 2-axis joystick console for intuitive manual positioning and two-axis control.

The BSC203 controller offers excellent low speed performance and positioning stability compared to DC servo motors. All relevant operating parameters are set automatically for stage/actuator products manufactured by Thorlabs, and custom parameters can be configured using the graphical interface panels. Motor step resolution and lead screw pitch can be set for a specific motor/actuator combination, phase currents can be limited to suitable peak powers, and limit switch configuration is accommodated through a flexible set of limit switch logic settings.
