The KIM101 by Thorlabs is a powerful K-Cube controller designed to provide easy manual and PC control of compatible piezo inertia stages, actuators, and optic mounts. This versatile controller offers a range of features that allow for precise and accurate control of movement sequences in a variety of applications.
With four channels of stand-alone manual control, the KIM101 allows for continuous movement or jogging. The joystick on the top panel of the controller can be used to control a single enabled axis, or in pairs of axes simultaneously, providing flexibility and ease of use. Additionally, the KIM101 offers remote PC control via USB, allowing for 'Plug-and-Play' operation when used in tandem with Kinesis software. The KIM101 is equipped with four SMC outputs for managing piezo inertia gadgets and a variable voltage output from 85V to 125V, which guarantees compatibility with different types of tools. The four channels of the unit can be controlled independently or simultaneously in pairs, making it suitable for a variety of applications. The top panel of the device displays a screen which enables it to operate as soon as turned on, meaning there's no need to connect it to a PC for setup.
For added convenience, the KIM101 has a compact footprint, measuring only 121mm x 60mm x 47mm (4.8” x 2.4” x 1.8”), and can be directly mounted to the optical table close to the devices being driven. This allows for minimal drive cable lengths and easier cable management. The controller also supports multiple external trigger functions, including position count, motion activity, and limit switch activity, as well as general purpose IO. The KIM101 is an ideal solution for applications that require precise and accurate control of movement sequences. With features such as jog settings, limit switch handling, “on the fly” changes in move direction, and control over the number of steps performed.
