The NRT100/M by ThorLabs is a motorized linear translation stage, an ideal solution for applications that require high load capacity and high resolution, such as measurement and inspection. With its integrated stepper motor, this translation stage is optimized to deliver exceptional performance, offering a travel range of 100 mm, and a load capacity of up to 20 kg when mounted horizontally, and 5 kg when mounted vertically.

The NRT100/M boasts eight 1/4"-20 (M6) tapped holes, spaced 1.0" (25.0 mm) apart, which enable optomechanics to be mounted directly onto the moving platform, making it a versatile product that can be tailored to suit the specific needs of the user. A two-phase stepper motor allows the lead screw to rotate, specifically with 409,600 microsteps per revolution. This facilitates a precise placement with a positional accuracy of under 100 nanometers.

When power isn't being supplied to the stage, the NRT100/M's stepper motor design keeps the platform in a fixed position - something DC servo motor translation stages cannot achieve. Additionally, the microstepping-optimized design enables smaller and smoother low-speed motion with significantly reduced vibrational noise. The stepper motor design also delivers exceptional static and torque performance, making this product a true micro-positioning solution.

For supporting its main platform, the NRT100/M utilizes four recirculating ball carrier bearings which have been precisely mounted to linear guide rails. The choice of a trapezoidal lead screw offers several benefits over the more common Acme-style thread, including improved durability, lower friction due to improved surface quality, and very little backdrive, eliminating the need for the braking mechanism required with ball screws.

If an XY configuration is desired, the NRT100/M can be combined with any NRT150 linear positioning stage, and they can be mounted with the 1/4"-20 (M6) cap screws together with provided counterbored holes and slots. These counterbores are accessed through the Ø0.59" (Ø15.0 mm) clearance hole in the moving carriage. With a vertical mounting bracket, XZ and XYZ configurations are possible, which orient the NRT100/M on the vertical plane. The NRT100/M has a compact design with dimensions of 362.7 mm x 100.0 mm x 43.5 mm and it also has a lightweight of just 2.2 kg.
