The ThorLabs QRP02 is a high-quality manual rotation platform designed to provide precise and repeatable rotation for optics and optical devices. Featuring a 360° range of motion, the QRP02 allows for quick and highly repeatable rotation with two user-positionable hard stops. These hard stops are secured by a double-sided magnetic tab, ensuring stability and accuracy during operation. The platform can be easily moved between the hard stops with an impressive repeatability of 15 µrad.

The first hard stop of the QRP02 can be easily positioned to coincide with any of the eight 4-40-tapped holes located at 45° intervals in the base. The position of the hard stop is set using a threaded alignment pin, which can be securely tightened with a 5/64" (2 mm) hex key, ensuring precise alignment and positioning of the optic or optical device. The second hard stop is an alignment pin attached to a rotating section under the mounting platform. It can be positioned anywhere along the 360° range of motion and locked into place with the setscrew to the left of the dowel using the hex key.

With a load capacity of 75 lb (34 kg) when mounted on a horizontal surface, the QRP02 is capable of handling a wide range of optical components with ease. Even when mounted on a vertical surface, a torque of up to 2.5 lb·ft (3.4 N·m) can be applied about an axis orthogonal to the rotation axis, ensuring stability and reliability even in challenging mounting configurations. In testing of the QRP02, a 20 lb (9.1 kg) load was successfully placed 1.5" (38 mm) from the mounting surface at the center of the platform.

The QRP02 boasts a Ø2" (Ø50.8 mm) platform that includes an array of 1/4"-20 (M6), 8-32 (M4), and 6-32 (M4) tapped holes for easy mounting of optomechanical components. The base of the platform is equipped with 1/4" (M6) counterbores on 2" (50 mm) centers, enabling seamless mounting on optical tables or breadboards for added convenience. Moreover, the base of the QRP02 can be mounted at any angle of rotation using the side relief cuts and compatible clamps, allowing for arbitrary positioning of both hard stops. To further enhance usability, the QRP02's base features an engraved scale that indicates the angled position of the mounting platform and alignment pins. On the scale, measurements are indicated in 5° intervals and there is a numbered mark above each of the 30° increments.
